Let’s face it, no matter where you live there will always be instances of weather that can seriously mess up the interior of your car. That’s not even taking into account the people in your car that can mess it up for you. Between spills and Mother Nature, your car’s interior takes a beating regularly. So what is the type of weather that absolutely demands covers for your car seats?

Summertime Sunshine

At first thought, you might think a pleasant, warm, dry summer would be the perfect weather to not need car seat covers. Unfortunately that sunshine does a lot of damage to anything left out in it.

We’re all aware that the sun’s UV rays can do damage to our skin. From sunburn to skin cancer, the UV rays can wreak havoc on your skin. In that sense, you have to think of your car’s interior material like skin too. So if you have leather car seats, the UV rays can pose just as much damage to them. The sun will dry out the leather causing it to crack and even fade in color. For fabric car seat material, the results are not much different. The material will fade over time and degrade in quality.

Having car seat covers to protect your car while it is exposed to UV rays will vastly prolong the life of your car’s seats. The covers act as a protection from the UV rays, similar to a sunblock, allowing your leather or fabric seats to remain in great condition.

The Rainy Season

Another weather pattern that absolutely demands covers for your car seats is the rainy season. There are a couple of things that the rainy season can do to your vehicle. The first is bringing water into your car. Umbrella or no umbrella, there are some rains that you can’t avoid getting soaked. This means you are bringing in that rainwater into your vehicle. Your seats then soak in this water, along with all of the microbes that come with it. Having a damp car and not allowing it to air out will start to cause a funky smell. A car seat cover, like our neoprene ones, prevent the water from soaking into your car’s seats.

In addition to rainwater soaking your seats, you are also likely bringing in some mud and dirt unknowingly. This mud and dirt can inadvertently get onto your car’s seats. These particles might soak into your car’s seats causing an unsightly stain or even starting the process of microtearing. Again, car seat covers help to prevent this.
