car seat cover careFirst of all, great idea getting yourself a Wet Okole car seat cover! Your car seats are now safe from water and UV damage. After our customers purchase a car seat cover, their next question often relates to caring for their car seat covers. How can you prolong the life of your car seat cover? Here’s a few tips.

Wash Often

Washing your car seat cover prolongs the life of your car seat cover. Wet suit shampoo is designed specifically for cleaning and conditioning your car seat cover, which is made out of neoprene (the same material as a wet suit).

The purpose of shampooing your car seat with wet suit shampoo is to remove all of the buildup that accumulates on it. Things like salt deposits, organic residue, and other micro-organisms can all deteriorate neoprene over time. By conditioning with wet suit shampoo you are also prevent drying, aging, and oxidation. Excessive drying can lead to cracks and aging and oxidation can affect the vibrancy of the colors.

The process of washing your car seats is pretty simple. You don’t even need to remove them from your vehicle. Just combine water and wet suit shampoo, and wash them with a lint-free cloth. Then rinse with fresh water and towel them dry.

Protect Them from UV Rays

Overexposure to the sun can damage your car seat covers. Preventing this prolonged exposure is actually similar to protecting your skin from the harmful UV rays. Our product, known as Wet Okole Seat Cover UV Protectant acts as a sunscreen to reduce the damage and fading that can be caused by the sun. Doing so increases the life expectancy of your car seat cover.

Odor Prevention

Just like that smelly gym bag, you car seat covers do have the ability to absorb some pretty rancid smells. We knew this when we created the seat covers since they would be used by hunters, fisherman, athletes, and pet owners. Nothing is worse than a lingering stench.

We created a product that eliminates odors. It’s called Mirazyme and if you do any of the activities listed above, you’re going to want it. Mirazyme works through a microbial process. This 100% biodegradable process can be used with your wet suit shampoo to give you a fresh smelling car seat.

Things to Avoid

You really should only use wet suit shampoo to clean your car seat cover. Other detergents and bleach can be harmful to the neoprene. You also need to stick to a lint-free cloth as your cleaning rag. A brush can also harm the neoprene as can machine washing them.

I’ve got a stain on the tan center of my seat cover. Not sure what it’s from but I can’t get it out. Maybe from a drink or food? Any ideas?
